From The Department Of Other Than That, Mrs Lincoln, How Did You Enjoy The Play?
In a completely straight faced story from Rangoon, the German news agency dpa “reports” that Burmese culture and the local film industry is threatened by all those foreign movies, VCDs and CDs flooding in . The realisation came at the Burmese Academy Awards (really), where the perspicacious information minister and host, one-star General Kyaw Hsan noted just a couple of problems that should be cleared up.
As the story put it:
“The Burmese movie industry still has its weaknesses in various sectors such as plots, presentation, acting, costumes, production, studio covering sound, pictures, colour and techniques, screening and cinema services,” said Kyaw Hsan, as reported by the New Light of Myanmar.
